Ruptured gas line leads to evacuations at Menifee apartment complex
MENIFEE (CNS) - A gas line punctured by a construction crew in Menifee today prompted evacuations at an apartment complex.The gas leak was reported about 11:30 a.m. in the 30400 block of Town Center Drive, near Newport Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.Workers adjacent to the apartment complex damaged the natural gas line, leading to public safety concerns, a fire department spokeswoman said.A fire crew evacuated several units as a precaution, according to reports from the scene.A fire captain requested that Gas Co. technicians repair the line, but there was no word on how long the operation would take.No street closures were in effect, though sheriff's deputies were assisting firefighters at the location.
