RIVERSIDE (CNS) - The first heat wave of the year has begun in earnest in Riverside County and is expected to continue today, with temperatures remaining unseasonably warm Sunday, followed by a reprieve Monday before another scorcher arrives in the middle of next week. Riverside County officials Friday also issued new guidance about pool usage for those seeking relief, allowing swimmers to enjoy private pools, like those at motels, apartment complexes or county clubs. Only one swimmer is allowed in the pool at a time under the guidance issued Friday. Gatherings in pool areas remains barred, unless a parent is watching a child in the pool, officials said.
