Pechanga Resort Casino announced via social media that the casino resort has a target reopening date of June 1. The casino resort has been closed to the public since March 14.
“We are incredibly excited to announce that our target reopening time frame has been set for June 1, 2020,” the post on Facebook reads. “Our promise has always been and will always be to exceed expectations. Our reopening will be centered around the health and safety of our team members, guests, community, and the tribe. Operations and amenities will be limited at first, and our new health and safety protocols will be paramount.”
On April 27, the tribe opened its golf course, Journey at Pechanga, to golfers and reopened the property’s RV resort on a limited basis on Tuesday, May 5.
To provide more information on the planned reopening, the casino resort then directed followers to a webpage with more information.
“Nearly two months have passed since we announced the temporary closure of the Pechanga Resort Casino to help fight the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health and safety of our Team Members, guests, and the tribe,” a statement on the link pertaining to the reopening time frame, reads. “Not knowing how long the temporary closure would persist, we chose not to speculate about when the property would reopen until there were clear indicators from the state and local officials that it was practical to begin planning for a target reopening date. We are very excited to announce that time has arrived.
“With Governor Newsom and local officials poised to relax some of the statewide and local stay at home orders and other measures in the days and weeks ahead, we are very happy to inform you that tribal leadership has set a target reopening timeframe of June 1. The actual date will be confirmed in the days ahead.”
The statement indicated that there will be many changes in place when guests are invited back into the casino and resort property.
There will be fewer slot machines on the floor and the position of table games will allow for “proper physical distancing.” All Pechanga employees will wear face coverings and will be screened for temperatures prior to starting each workday. Employees will also undergo mandatory training regarding safety practices.
Guests could be required to wear face coverings as well and the casino has purchased touch-less and non-invasive temperature checks to place at all entrances to help scan guests for temperatures. There will also be more hand sanitizing stations and more frequent sanitizing of high touch areas.
Restaurants will be arranged to allow for physical distancing.
The spa and pool will remain closed until the next phase of reopening and the casino resort won’t host any concerts or major events on property in the near-term.
“We will be assessing the situation to determine when we might be able to host large public concerts and events,” the statement reads.
“We will keep you informed of more information pertaining to the reopening timeframe as it becomes available,” the statement continues. “We look forward to welcoming you, our valued guest, back to Pechanga Resort Casino.”
