San Bernardino National Forest opens more campgrounds

The San Bernardino National Forest announced the opening of more of its developed recreational sites and campgrounds which had previously been closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Thurman Flats Picnic Area reopened to the public Wednesday, June 10, while Lake Fulmore and Lake Hemet, both reopened to the public Saturday, June 13. Fern Basin Campground, Keller Peak Yellow Post Sites, Marion Mountain Campground and Pinyon Flat Campground all reopened Friday, June 19. San Bernardino National Forest is encouraging park visitors to practice self-sufficiency when visiting its recreation sites and asks that visitors come prepared with all the essentials needed for a day trip, including food, emergency supplies and the ability to pack-out trash, according to a news release issued Friday. â
