Firefighters were able to stop the spread of a wildfire that broke out in Anza Monday afternoon. The fire was first reported at 3:08 p.m. in the 52700 block of Highway 371, according to a tweet from Cal Fire Riverside. Officials initially estimated the fire was burning about 20-30 acres, and said it was spreading at a moderate rate. By about 4:15 p.m., Cal Fire Riverside said the fire had grown to about 125 acres. The forward spread of the fire was stopped by around 5:15 p.m. The fire was in an area west of Cahuilla Casino, not far from the area where two other wildfires were doused by firefighters in the last few weeks.
