Large brush fire in Palm Springs expected to be contained by tonight

PALMS SPRINGS (CNS) - Fire officials said the 211-acre Tram Fire burning in northern Palm Springs along Highway 111 was expected to be fully contained by tonight.As of Sunday morning, the fire was 50% contained with firefighters expected to continue extinguishing hot spots throughout the day, according to the Palm Springs Fire Department.The blaze was reported at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday and quickly blackened 50 acres near the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and Palm Springs Visitor Center.Just before noon Saturday, fire officials said the blaze had consumed 100 acres before updating that figure to 192 acres early that afternoon.
