BREAKING: Wright tenders resignation to Hemet City Council

In a surprise move, Hemet City Councilwoman Bonnie Wright tendered her resignation during the Hemet City Council meeting Tuesday, July 28.Wright, who represents constiuents in the 4th District of the city, has served on council since 2012. She did not give a reason for tendering her written resignation.Since Wright’s resignation comes just three months shy of the Nov. 3 general election, not leaving enough time for the seat to be placed on the ballot, the city will have to appoint a registered voter from within the 4th District to take her place within 60 days.Wright, who moved to Hemet in 1983 with her husband and two sons, was first elected to council in 2012 and was reelected to her seat in 2016 while she was serving as mayor for the city.
