Hiker rescued from Cleveland National Forest west of Murrieta

MURRIETA (CNS) - A hiker who fell ill today while on a trail in the Cleveland National Forest west of Murrieta was able to walk out of the preserve with the help of another hiker, as Riverside County firefighters were preparing to mount a rescue operation.The hiker down call was received about 4:30 p.m. a mile north of the Tenaja Trailhead, near the intersection of Cleveland National Forest and Tenaja roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.Multiple engine crews from the county and city of Murrieta were sent to the location and staged at the trailhead parking lot, requesting a sheriff's helicopter crew to fly overhead to determine exactly where the stranded party was located and possibly perform a hoist rescue.The chopper was reportedly tied up on calls, and fi
