Head-on crash closes southbound Highway 79 south of Winchester

WINCHESTER (CNS) - Two trucks crashed head-on Tuesday, Aug. 25 south of Winchester, temporarily closing southbound state Route 79 and snarling traffic. The crash was reported at about 7 a.m. near Garbini Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. An ambulance was called to the scene, but injury information was not made available. A Nissan truck and a Ford F-150 involved in the crash rolled over after colliding, the CHP said. Construction nails were scattered on both sides of the roadway prior to the crash, according to the CHP. SR 79 was closed for about two hours as crews cleaned up the scene.
