RIVERSIDE (CNS) - Another 196 confirmed coronavirus cases and 13 additional COVID-19 deaths were reported Thursday, Aug. 27, but Riverside University Health System data showed the active case count continuing its downward trend. The aggregate number of COVID-19 infections recorded since the public health documentation period began in early March is 51,734, compared to 51,538 on Wednesday, according to RUHS. Officials said the total number of deaths tied to COVID-19 stands at 997, up from 984 a day ago. Meantime, the number of known active cases countywide is 9,414, a decline of 371 compared to Wednesday, when officials acknowledged that the number of patient recoveries had been under-reported previously due to a lack of contact with some patients more than month after they were diagnose
