LAKE ELSINORE (CNS) - A 64-year-old motorist suffered a massive heart attack and crashed on Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore, dying a short time later despite efforts to try to save him, authorities said Thursday, Oct. 22.
Mark Gaylord of Fontana died about 6 p.m. Wednesday at Loma Linda Hospital in Murrieta..
Gaylord was driving northbound on the freeway near Railroad Canyon Road about 4:30 p.m. when he suffered a heart attack, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officer Mike Lassig said the victim was going roughly 45 mph when he lost control of the 2006 Chevrolet pickup, which veered into the center divider, then swerved back into lanes, drove onto the right shoulder and then back toward the center divider.
