Couple rescued from flood control channel in Corona

CORONA (CNS) - Officers rescued a husband and wife who became trapped in the rising waters of a flood control channel in Corona, police said Tuesday, Dec. 29. The dramatic rescue occurred Monday morning in the 1100 block of Border Avenue amid heavy showers that caused widespread flooding throughout the city, according to the Corona Police Department. After receiving multiple 911 calls about the couple, officers found a woman clinging to the side of the canal yelling for help and pulled her to safety, police said. The woman told officers that her husband had been swept away by the current and he was later found grasping a piece of debris to stay afloat.
