
Hemet resident Cassi Tichy would have been 21 years old Thursday, Dec. 31, if she had not died of Ewing Sarcoma in 2018. She was diagnosed with the rare childhood bone cancer when she was 15, and she spent 32 months fighting it. Her mother, Ellen Tichy, works to keep her memory alive through advocacy for more research and awareness campaigns that will help others stricken with the disease.Tichy hosted a blood drive in San Jacinto with LifeStream Blood Bank Thursday, Dec. 31, on New Year’s Eve to help them replenish their low blood supply and to celebrate Cassi’s birthday.
