HUSD students learn how to cook tacos with help of nutrition department and learning program

HEMET – Hemet Unified School District’s Nutrition Services Department and SAFE Expanded Learning Program teamed up to provide a learning activity for HUSD students and families. Families picking up meal boxes for their students received additional ingredients and the directions to make tacos. Normally, meal boxes only contain breakfast, snack and lunch items, but with the collaboration between Nutrition Services and SAFE, the staff added the dinner items as well.In addition to the ingredients and written directions in the meal box, families could visit the SAFE After School website to watch a video of SAFE employee Darrel Smith providing step-by-step instructions.
