Temecula City Council approves ad hoc committee to explore building police station
Temecula City Council held a discussion on looking into the possibility of creating a police station within the city for use by Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies during its Feb. 23, regular meeting. The discussion was brought forth by councilmember James “Stew” Stewart.Stewart said that he wanted to be clear he wasn’t talking about the city forming its own department or even the coverage of the area, which he believes is fine. The issue, he said, was response times for crimes such as property crimes since deputies currently respond from French Valley. Having the police force inside city limits would help with those response times which could be as long as 45 minutes depending on the location, traffic or time of day the incident occurred.In the past, Stewart has
