Riverside police shoot suspect in vehicle at strip mall

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - One suspect was shot and critically wounded by Riverside police officers at a strip mall near the UC Riverside campus and a second suspect suffered a minor injury during the incident and was also taken into custody, authorities said Monday. The shooting occurred at 11:59 p.m. Sunday at 3839 Chicago Ave., said Riverside police Lt. B. Crawford. Crawford said the driver of a car was wounded and the vehicle crashed into a police car and parked cars at an Enterprise car rental agency. Two officers suffered minor injuries, with one treated at a hospital and released and the other treated by paramedics at the scene, Crawford said.
