Felon to stand trial for allegedly gunning down girlfriend at Anza residence

MURRIETA (CNS) - A convicted felon accused of gunning down his 58-year-old girlfriend during a confrontation in their Anza home must stand trial on murder and other charges, a judge ruled Thursday.Trent Allen Lightfoot, 50, allegedly shot Cherie Mae Lanzisera in the 56000 block of Mitchell Road, just north of Highway 371, last June 7.After a preliminary hearing at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Timothy Freer found there was sufficient evidence to warrant a trial on the murder count, as well as domestic assault, being a felon in possession of a firearm and sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations.The judge scheduled a post-preliminary hearing arraignment for April 1 at the Murrieta courthouse.
