KANAB, Utah – What may sound cute to the general public causes a shudderĀ every yearĀ amongĀ animal shelter staffĀ across the country.ā€œKittenĀ Season,ā€ as it’s known in the animal welfare field,Ā starts each springĀ and lasts through fall.Ā Like the term implies,Ā it’s the time of year whenĀ unspayedĀ female cats have most of theirĀ littersĀ andĀ animal shelters are inundated by orphanedĀ kittens who needĀ intensive care.ā€œCats can become pregnant at just four months old and theĀ duration ofĀ felineĀ pregnancyĀ isĀ approximately two months, so unspayed community cats can have many litters inĀ one season,ā€ Dr. ErinĀ Katribe, veterinarian and medical director for Best Friends Animal Society, said.So, what can you do to help?Ā The path often starts with leaving outdoo
