The Murrieta Mesa High School swim teams took on Great Oak High School recently in their first dual league meet of the 2021 season. The Ram’s boys’ varsity team won 100-70 and are currently undefeated. The Lady Rams fell short to Great Oak, which won 96-74.
In the girls’ relays, the 200-meter free relay saw Murrieta Mesa sophomore Emilee Elizondo, junior Riley Renaud, senior Ashley Murray and sophomore Sonja Aarsvold place first with CIF considerations. The same group of girls also placed first in the 400-meter freestyle relay and received CIF consideration for that race as well.
Junior Riley Renaud (MM) also placed first in the 500M free (CIF auto cut) and first in 100-meter backstroke (CIF consideration). Sophomore Emilee Elizondo (MM) placed first in 200-meter freestyle (CIF consideration) and first in 100-meter butterfly (CIF consideration). Sophomore Sonja Aarsvold (MM) placed first on 50-meter freestyle (CIF Auto) and first place in 100-meter freestyle (CIF consideration).
In boys’ relays, the 200-meter medley relay had Murrieta Mesa junior Max Dillon, freshman Ty Schneider, junior Alex Yang and junior Justin Schneider placed first and were CIF Auto sections. The 200-meter freestyle relay saw Murrieta Mesa junior Eryk Elizondo, Alex Yang, Ty Schneider and Justin Schneider place first and get CIF Consideration. They finished up with a 400-meter freestyle relay where Max Dillon, junior Jeremiah Castillo, junior Trevor Haskins and Eryk Elizondo got the win and swept all three relay events.
Murrieta Mesa junior Alex Yang placed first in 100-meter breast stroke (CIF Auto) a junior Justin Schneider placed first in 200-meter freestyle (CIF Consideration) and first in 100-meter backstroke (CIF Consideration). Freshman Ty Schneider placed first in 200 individual medley (CIF Consideration) and first in 100-meter freestyle. Junior Eryk Elizondo placed first in 50-meter freestyle and 500-meter free style. Junior Max Dillon achieved a CIF consideration in 100-meter breast stroke and sophomore Alex Pena achieved CIF consideration in 100-meter breast stroke as well.
Next up for the Rams swim team is a league dual meet at Chaparral this week.
