Anza residents’ livestock win Orange County Fair awards

Anza resident Denise Squires, accompanied by her daughter Monique and eager assistant 13-year-old Rachel Madrid, raked in the awards for their Shetland sheep and Angora goat entries at the Orange County Fair last week.The Orange County Fair is located in Costa Mesa and features rides, food and agricultural events and shows.“We were there from Tuesday, July 19 through Sunday, July 25. The animals were housed in the fair barns and we got to get a comfortable room at the nearby Motel 6,” Squires said.Madrid, who lives in Lake Riverside Estates with her family, was an attentive helper all week, staying with the animals to tend to their needs and answer questions about them from fair goers.“This was her first t
