The San Jacinto Technology Institute was in the planning stages for a few years before the pandemic helped to accelerate its opening. The timing also aligned with the opening of the new Monte Vista Middle School site. When the old site was repurposed as a new home for the San Jacinto Leadership Academy that campus was quickly and easily transformed to accommodate virtual learning. The new school’s principal, Ken Swanson, who also heads San Jacinto Unified School District’s alternative high schools – Mountain View and Mountain Heights Academy – was assisted in getting things up and running by Instructional Coach Carrie Barnett and Office Manager Jennifer Robinson. Swanson said virtual learning options have been in place at the alternative high school for the past six years.
