COVID hospitalizations slow as deaths rise in Riverside County
COVID-related hospitalizations have ticked up again in Riverside County. Currently there are 673 COVID-19 positive patients hospitalized, with the addition of only 13 new patients since Aug. 27, according to the Riverside University Health System. The number of patients in intensive care units for the same week remained at 148.The number of known active virus cases in the county was 7,896 as of Friday, Sept. 3.The total number of cases recorded since the public health documentation period began in March 2020 grew by more than 6,301 cases from 332,499 to 338,800 over the past week, according to RUHS, which also reported 4,759 deaths up by 32 from the week before. Fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates, and can date back weeks, RUHS said.
