Hemet City Council agrees with Caltrans on new curb and sidewalk rights of way on Florida Avenue

The Hemet City Council, working with Caltrans, has paved the way for the addition of curbs and sidewalks on portions of Florida Avenue and opened the door for a new all-inclusive outdoor Fitness Court at Mary Henley Park at 801 Kirby St. in the near future. Meeting at City Hall Oct. 12, the council heard a staff report for a request by Caltrans for rights of way on seven parcels of land owned by the city from Winchester Road to Fairview Avenue in east Hemet along Florida Avenue. The rights of way would allow Caltrans to continue their work to rehabilitate pavement, install fiber optics, install vehicle detection systems and upgrade curb ramps for ADA compatibility along Florida Avenue (SR-74).
