The Eastern Municipal Water District’s San Jacinto Valley Regional Water Reclamation Facility uses a biofilter to capture and treat foul odors associated with the water reclamation process. The organic media in the biofilter requires replacement, and a 5-0 EMWD board vote, Thursday, Nov. 4, approved two contracts to replace the biofilter media.
Genesis Construction, which is based in Hemet, was awarded a $238,842 contract to remove the old biofilter media and install the new media. GES Biotek LLC, which is headquartered in Illinois and has an office in San Bernardino, was given an $844,697 contract to provide the engineered media. The board authorized a $1,405,000 appropriation which covers a 25% contingency, staff support expenses and freight charges.
