RIVERSIDEÂ - A body was found today in a water feature on the campus of La Sierra University, prompting an investigation by Riverside police, but it was too early to tell what might have happened.
Riverside police spokesman Officer Ryan Railsback said a campus operations official conducting "maintenance work'' in the 4500 block of Riverwalk Parkway spotted the remains submerged in a pond about 10:30 a.m.
The worker immediately called 911, and Riverside police detectives began an investigation.
As of noon, the body had not been removed from the water, pending coroner's examination on-site, Railsback told City News Service.
He could not confirm whether the remains were those of a man or woman, nor were there any details available regarding the circumstances behind the death.
