LAKE ELSINORE (CNS) - A 21-year-old motorist was killed in a crash involving a sheriff's patrol car on the north end of Lake Elsinore, authorities said today.
Christian Bacilio of Menifee was fatally injured at about 1:45 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Lake Crest and Riverside drives, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Circumstances surrounding the death were unclear, but according to the California Highway Patrol, Bacilio's vehicle and a sheriff's patrol unit collided.
The CHP does not have jurisdiction where the wreck occurred, but the agency was asked by sheriff's officials to handle the investigation because a deputy was involved and a neutral party was needed to conduct the inquiry, CHP spokesman Mike Lassig told City News Service.
