Menifee police nab DUI driver at traffic checkpoint

A Menifee police DUI checkpoint nabbed one drunken driver and resulted in eight citations and an arrest near Newport and Winter Hawk roads Saturday, Dec. 18, in Menifee.Motorists along the highway intersection were halted as officers checked drivers’ licenses, signs of alcohol abuse and other violations that evening from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. In the stops, according to a news release by police Chief Pat Walsh, one driver was arrested for driving intoxicated and another for delaying and obstructing a police officer in the performance of his duty.The eight citations were issued for either operating a vehicle without a license or driving with suspended or revoked driver’s license.The checkpoint was announced publicly but it still was highly effective, according to the police depart
