MEADOWBROOK (CNS) - A head-on collision today involving a car and a
minivan on Highway 74 in Meadowbrook injured five people, including a child.The crash was reported at about 3 p.m. on the eastbound 74 at Hammack
Avenue, just northeast of Lake Elsinore, according to the California Highway
Patrol.The agency said a Toyota minivan and Kia sedan collided after a
mattress dropped from a pickup fell into lanes. One of the vehicles swerved to
avoid it, causing the collision.Four Riverside County Fire Department engine crews reached the
location within a few minutes and began triaging the victims, one of whom was a
5-year-old child, according to officials at the scene.The patients' conditions were not immediately known.The eastbound side of the highway was completely bl
