Felon accused of killing senior in hit-and-run drops bail reduction request

MURRIETA (CNS) - A convicted felon accused of running over and killing a 71-year-old woman walking on a sidewalk in Murrieta while he was drunk at the wheel dropped a request today for a judge to consider reducing his bail.Rodney Wayne Phillips, 57, of Hemet allegedly fatally struck Gloria Ann Henry of Murrieta as she walked along Clinton Keith Road, just east of Via Mariposa, last month.Phillips is charged with DUI gross vehicular manslaughter and fleeing the scene of a crime.His public defender had submitted a motion requesting a bail review hearing before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Elaine Kiefer, but during a status conference at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta, the motion was withdrawn without explanation.The judge scheduled a felony settleme
