Former 2019 Murrieta Mesa High School graduate, Raul Lizarraga, will be fighting in his eighth professional boxing match this weekend in Long Beach. Lizarraga is currently undefeated at 7-0, fighting out of the Temecula Boxing Training Academy. With seven knockouts under his belt, Lizarraga, who at one point was ranked as the No. 3 young boxer in the United States by usaboxing.org, will be fighting in the 160-pound class Saturday, May 21.

Lizarraga began boxing as an outlet from gangs and crime in Northern California and moved to Murrieta to start boxing and training at the Temecula Boxing Training Academy, which has become the premier boxing gym in the area since 2009.

Roberto Yong, who is 18 years older than the 20-year-old phenom out of Murrieta, sports a 7-18-2 record. Yong, the No. 11 ranked boxer from Arizona, stands at 5’10, while Lizarraga, who is unranked, standing at 6’0, will have the height advantage. The reach for Yong is a little over 74 inches. Lizarraga’s reach was unknown prior to the fight weigh-in.

BoxFest Round 4: H2O Homecoming is the title of the event where Lizarraga will be displaying his skills on May 21. Celebrity YouTube sensation, and boxer, Jake Paul, will be in attendance for a card that also has eleven fights taking place through the course of the night.
