Emileen Flores, a 2021 graduate of Vista Murrieta School, applied for one of SRPNEF’s $1,000 seed scholarships and later was accepted as a student at Cornell University, an Ivy League School where she is currently studying Plant Science with an education minor.Now in her second year at Cornell, Flores recalls how she got interested in plant science after a trip to the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Preserve during a third Grade field trip.She said she still remembers how, on a beautiful day on the preserve, a teacher or docent told her to lay down on a rock and bask in the sun like a lizard. That memory is now one of her favorites and said it helps her relax after some of her strenuous Cornell science classes.“I
