SACRAMENTO – California State Senator Melissa Melendez (R-Lake Elsinore) issued the following statement regarding the passage of AB 2223 (Wicks) dealing with abortion:“The passage of AB 2223 is a failure of this body to value life, for both the mother and the unborn child. It’s heartbreaking to think the majority party is comfortable decriminalizing back alley abortions and jeopardizing the lives of pregnant women and their unborn children. When children die of gun violence, the majority party is quick to pass gun control legislation. The same protections for the unborn never materialize. As the mother of 5 children, I will never understand how democrats can be so quick to devalue human life. I never thought I would see the day where death would be welcomed and celebrated
