At a Fairview Fire briefing this morning, Sept. 7, Riverside County Sheriff’s Sargeant Brandi Swan reported during Q&A that the two victims who were found deceased in a car during the Fairview Fire couldn’t yet be identified. She was able to report that they were family members of the woman who was rescued during an attempt to escape the fire and that the rescued woman was found outside the car. During the morning briefing, it was noted that the fire was burning and moving at such a pace, that they could not escape it.

News Break has reported that a brother of the hospitalized woman, Tim Chitwood, during an interview with NBCLA, identified the victims who died as father and daughter Matthew Compton and Mikayla Porter. The wife of Matthew Compton who is also Chitwood’s sister remains hospitalized with severe burns.

At the morning briefing, Sargeant Swan stated that the woman in the hospital is severely burned and she is expected to survive. She also stated that the Sheriff’s department is still going door to door to evacuate and that about 25% of the people in the evacuation area are complying with the evacuation orders.
