Motorcyclist fatally injured in collision with SUV at Menifee intersection

MENIFEE (CNS) - A 60-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured when his bike collided with an SUV making a turn at a Menifee intersection, authorities said today.James Whiten of Menifee died following the crash Saturday at Berea and Normandy roads, according to the Menifee Police Department.Sgt. Matthew Bloch said Whiten was traveling westbound on his Yamaha about 4 p.m. when a 38-year-old Corona man at the wheel of a Jeep approached from the opposite direction.When the Jeep driver initiated a turn, Whiten collided with the SUV, Bloch said.The Jeep driver immediately stopped, according to the police spokesman.Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the scene within a few minutes and found Whiten gravely injured.
