Motorist who caused fatal collision in Perris at-large

A hit-and-run driver who caused a fatal collision at an intersection next to a Perris elementary school was at large today. The deadly crash happened about 6:40 p.m. Saturday at Evans Road and Whispering Wood Lane, directly across from the campus of Mary Ranch Elementary School, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Sgt. Jeremy Bracey said the driver of a 2020 Honda Fit was preparing to make a southbound turn onto Evans from westbound Whispering Wood after coming to a stop at the three-way intersection. ``As the Honda proceeded to make the turn, a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder traveling northbound on Evans failed to stop at the stop sign, and the two vehicles collided,'' Bracey said.
