A hit-and-run driver who caused a fatal collision at an intersection next to a Perris elementary school was at large today. The deadly crash happened about 6:40 p.m. Saturday at Evans Road and Whispering Wood Lane, directly across from the campus of Mary Ranch Elementary School, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Sgt. Jeremy Bracey said the driver of a 2020 Honda Fit was preparing to make a southbound turn onto Evans from westbound Whispering Wood after coming to a stop at the three-way intersection.
``As the Honda proceeded to make the turn, a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder
traveling northbound on Evans failed to stop at the stop sign, and the two
vehicles collided,'' Bracey said. The suspect's SUV plowed into driver's side of the Honda, causing significant damage, accord
