As we approach Cesar Chavez Day, Sunday, March 31, I would like to take a moment to recognize and celebrate his legacy and the many people who advocated alongside him. Cesar Chavez was an American activist who fought hard for Chicanos and Mexican Americans who were exploited and discriminated against. Despite seemingly insurmountable odds, Cesar Chavez made tireless efforts for better working conditions and dignified lives for farmworkers. Cesar Chavez was not alone in this fight; there were many others who pledged their support for this cause. In the spirit of Women’s History Month, I would like to talk about Dolores Huerta. Together with Cesar Chavez in 1962, Dolores Huerta founded the National Farm Workers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers’ Union, protecting
