The San Diego County Fair’s Gems, Minerals, and Jewelry exhibition includes the John Dalley Award for the “most fun” exhibit, and this year that award was given to a case entered by Temecula’s Katie Kypros.Kypros called her case “Rocks with Faces”. The exhibit consisted of 19 rocks, some of which were combinations with more than one mineral.“Fairgoers just can't walk past Katie Kypros' display of rock faces without stopping to look, smile, and even take selfies,” said Gems, Minerals, and Jewelry exhibition coordinator Anne Schafer. “Katie's collection consists of ‘mimic rocks’, meaning rocks that resemble something.
