As of 9 am this morning, September 5, 2024, the Anza wildfire, known as the Chapman Fire, has been stopped at 18 acres and is 80% contained. According to the status report from Cal Fire, crews will continue to work on strengthening containment lines throughout the day.

Chapman Fire Spreads to 12 Acres, 5% Contained in Anza
Anza, CA — A wildfire known as the Chapman Fire is currently burning through the 44800 block of Chapman Road in Anza, Riverside County. The fire, which was first reported at 12:51 PM, has already consumed 12 acres and is spreading at a dangerous rate.
Ten structures are in danger.
As of now, the fire is only 5% contained. Firefighters are actively working to control the blaze, with 18 engines, 3 water tenders, 7 hand crews, and 4 additional units on the scene. A total of 166 personnel are involved in the firefighting efforts.
The Anza Electric Cooperative has reported that three homes in the area will be without power for approximately one day due to the fire. Crews are expected to remain on the scene for the next six hours as they work to establish containment lines.
Numerous firefighting air tankers from across the state are conducting aerial suppression missions as conditions permit. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
