A multi-vehicle collision brought traffic to a standstill Saturday evening on southbound Interstate 15 near State Route 76, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash, reported at 7:12 p.m., involved up to four vehicles and left one male victim down on the right-hand shoulder of the freeway, CHP and fire officials said. Emergency responders arrived on scene within minutes and transported three people to Palomar Medical Center. The incident was classified as a “1181,” indicating moderate injuries.

All lanes were temporarily blocked due to vehicles positioned across the middle lanes and on the right-hand side. Traffic quickly backed up in the area as first responders worked to clear the scene. By 7:25 p.m., CHP confirmed all lanes remained stopped.

Further details on the cause of the crash were not immediately available, and the names of those involved have not been released. The collision remains under investigation.

Elsewhere in the region, a hit-and-run with no injuries was reported at 7:15 p.m. on State Route 76 at Thoroughbred Lane. Earlier incidents included a 6:32 p.m. injury collision on northbound Interstate 5 near Birmingham Drive, and a traffic hazard reported at 5:47 p.m. on northbound I-15 at Rainbow Valley.

Caltrans was also notified earlier in the day to assist with issues on I-5 southbound over Leucadia and near Gopher Canyon Road under I-15.
