Anza’s Sacred Heart Catholic Church presented a live Easter Passion play for the church’s parishioners, visitors and friends Saturday, April 19. Conducted entirely in Spanish, the performance reenacted the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, played by role players from Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Desert Hot Springs.Esther Barragan opened the play with a short prayer. The actors then began their performance and held the audience’s complete attention for the duration of the almost hour-long show.A Passion play is a dramatic presentation depicting the Passion of Jesus Christ, including his trial, suffering and death.
