Wolf Fire grows to 2414 acres with 35% containment; Evacuation orders still in effect

UPDATE 7/1/25 8 AM: 4,261 structures were or are threatened by the Wolf Fire. Three firefighters have been injured. The containment has reached 35% and the acreage burned has been held at 2414 acres, according to Cal Fire. “Today, firefighters will face warm temperatures and lower humidity. While winds and steep terrain are challenging tasks, firefighters on the ground are working hard to reinforce and establish containment lines.”

Firefighters made good progress overnight. Multiple aircraft, along with hundreds of firefighters on the ground, will continue to establish containment lines. Evacuation orders and warnings remain in place.

The Wolf Fire burning near Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Wolfskill Truck Trail in Riverside County continues to burn at a moderate rate through medium to heavy brush, according to Cal Fire.

As of late Sunday, the blaze remains active with 1,165 acres burned. Evacuation orders remain in place for areas north of Wolfskill Truck Trail and Ellis Drive, south of Roadrunner Trail and Old Idyllwild Road, east of Highland Springs Avenue, and west of Care Free Road and Mount Edna Road.

A night-flying Chinook helicopter newly stationed at Fallbrook Airpark has joined suppression efforts. It is one of four helicopters, including other night-capable aircraft, working alongside 300 personnel on the fire lines. Ground support includes 70 engines, six hand crews, three water tenders, two bulldozers, and eight additional assigned units.

Firefighters are expected to continue aggressive suppression overnight to gain containment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Wolf Fire burning near Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Wolfskill Truck Trail in Riverside County has grown to over 1,165 acres as of Sunday afternoon, according to Cal Fire’s Riverside Unit.

The wildfire remains 0% contained and is burning at a moderate rate of spread. No structures are currently threatened, and no injuries or evacuations have been reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

At 12:53 a.m., residents were ordered to evacuate due to an immediate threat to life from the wildfire. The mandatory evacuation zone is:

  • North of Wolfskill Truck Trail and Ellis Drive

  • South of Roadrunner Trail, Old Banning Idyllwild Road, and Old Idyllwild Road

  • East of Highland Springs Avenue

  • West of Care Free Road and Mount Edna Road

The area is now lawfully closed to public access.

Cal Fire reports 125 personnel are assigned to the incident, including 25 engines, 3 water tenders, 2 bulldozers, 2 hand crews, and 1 helicopter. Numerous firefighting air tankers from across the state are also conducting suppression missions as conditions allow.

The fire is under unified command with Cal Fire and cooperating agencies, including the U.S. Forest Service and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
