A vehicle fire temporarily blocked all northbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Rainbow Valley on Friday afternoon, July 4, as emergency crews responded to the incident involving a gold Chevrolet SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

At approximately 1:38 p.m., callers reported a vehicle traveling on rims without a front tire, emitting flames from the driver-side fender well and trying to get back into traffic. The vehicle ultimately caught fire along the right-hand shoulder just south of Rainbow Valley Boulevard.

Three occupants were able to safely exit the vehicle and retrieve belongings before the fire fully engulfed the front tire area. A family member later confirmed all parties were out of the vehicle and safe.

CHP and fire crews responded quickly, with multiple units arriving on scene by 1:49 p.m. Authorities temporarily shut down all northbound lanes as firefighters tackled the blaze and traffic crews prepared to cone off the #4 lane.

Adams Towing was dispatched to remove the burned-out vehicle.

No injuries were reported.
