County offices providing vital health and human services remain open to serve residents during the federal government shutdown. Since the start of the shutdown 16 days ago, the county has participated in several public meetings and discussions to provide important information on critical services available to residents.

“We are open and there are no immediate changes to county services,” said Board Chairman and Fourth District Supervisor V. Manuel Perez. “During this chaotic time, the county is here to serve our residents most in need. While we don’t know how long this shutdown will last, we do know that services are available today and we want to support our residents as best we can.”

The county continues to provide veterans services, human services, workforce development, and healthcare, among others. Please call 211 or visit RivCo.org for more information.

The county communicates regularly with elected officials in Sacramento and Washington D.C. to learn the latest information, as well as advocate for our interests on behalf of Riverside County residents. County leadership is focused on identifying the potential impacts an extended shutdown could have on all residents, including the most vulnerable in our community who are dependent on health and human services funded by the federal government, and to work with our federal and state partners to ensure that the negative impacts are minimized.
