All southbound lanes of Interstate 15 were temporarily shut down late Wednesday night near the Winchester Road overcrossing after a rollover traffic collision involving multiple vehicles, authorities said.
The crash was reported just before midnight near State Route 79 N in the French Valley area. According to preliminary reports, a gray Honda CR-V hydroplaned, struck the center divider and overturned. A blue Subaru Crosstrek was also found on its roof in the center divider. Additional vehicles were stopped in the area, though one driver in a gray Honda reported not striking another car.
The overturned vehicles were not drivable. California Highway Patrol officers requested traffic collision investigators and a tow rotation. Riverside County Fire and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
By about 12:12 a.m., all southbound lanes were stopped while Black’s Towing worked to clear the scene. No information on injuries was immediately available. Authorities did not provide an estimated time for full lane reopening.
