Anza pays tribute to beloved tow truck driver John Baker

A procession of tow trucks flashing lights and blaring horns, escorted by law enforcement, rolled slowly along St. Hwy. 371 in Anza on Wednesday, Dec. 17, honoring the life of longtime local tow truck driver John Baker, who passed away unexpectedly last month.Baker, 58, was a familiar and trusted presence in the rural community, known for coming to the aid of stranded motorists, responding to accidents and offering help with a calm demeanor and kind words. Friends and colleagues said he treated every call not just as a job, but as an opportunity to help someone in need.Baker began working as a tow truck operator at Valley Auto in September, 2018. His last day on the job was Nov. 16. Shortly thereafter, he became ill and later passed away.[gallery td_select_gallery_slide="slide"
