Families report alleged caregiver manipulation; local investigator urges vetting, APS calls when needed

Subscribers have recently come to the Village News and Valley News office with accounts of alleged caregiver fraud and manipulation involving elderly loved ones, including hospice patients, prompting warnings from a local private investigator to thoroughly vet anyone hired to provide in-home care.Tony Campbell, a private detective with AC Investigations, said he has worked with multiple families who suspected caregivers were influencing seniors to change legal documents, transfer assets, or cut off relatives.“You may need to speak up for your loved ones by calling Adult Protective Services,” Campbell said. “Better safe than sorry.
