HEMET, Calif. — A traffic stop for a minor infraction escalated into a police pursuit through Hemet streets, ending with the recovery of a stolen motorcycle on Rafferty Way.
The incident began at the intersection of State Street and Acacia Avenue when a Hemet Police officer attempted to stop a motorcyclist for failing to halt at a stop sign. The rider refused to yield, initiating a chase that extended from the initial traffic stop location to Rafferty Way, a residential street approximately three miles west of the starting point.
Upon the conclusion of the pursuit at Rafferty Way, officers determined the motorcycle had been reported stolen.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the motorcyclist or details regarding potential charges. It is currently unclear if the pursuit resulted in any collisions or injuries of to the rider or officers involved.
The investigation is ongoing.
