WEST SACRAMENTO – Anthony Berger of Temecula has successfully completed cadet training at the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Academy. He is assigned to duty at the CHP's East Los Angeles Area office.Officer Mercado graduated from Temecula Valley High School in 2020 before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton. Before attending the CHP Academy, he worked as a server at Chili's. He says envisioning his father pinning his badge on graduation day motivated him through the academy's challenges.At the CHP Academy, cadet training starts with nobility in policing, leadership, professionalism, ethics, and cultural diversity.
