An armed suspect safely surrendered to authorities late Monday morning following a nearly eight-hour barricade situation that prompted a SWAT response at a Hemet residence.
Officers responded to a report of a domestic violence incident in the 3000 block of Dave Circle at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect was armed and had barricaded himself inside the home, authorities said.
A woman and children who were initially inside the residence were safely removed from the location with unknown injuries.
Because the subject was barricaded and armed, the Southwest City SWAT team was called in to assist local officers with the situation. Following several hours of coordinated efforts, the suspect safely surrendered to law enforcement at 11:59 a.m.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
