A woman was found dead early Saturday morning after a mobile home fire at a Hemet residence, according to fire officials.
Units from the Hemet Fire Department, along with the Hemet Police Department, responded to a reported residential structure fire at about 881 N. Lake St. in the Casa Del Rey mobile home park.
Engine 5 was first on scene and reported a double-wide mobile home fully involved in flames. Command was established as crews began fire suppression efforts.
Police officers simultaneously initiated evacuations of nearby homes as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
During the incident, a witness reported that people might still be inside the residence. Officers located a male occupant outside the home, but his wife was unaccounted for.
Authorities conducted a door-to-door search in the surrounding area to determine whether the missing woman had evacuated, but were unable to locate her.
After the fire was extinguished, crews conducted a search of the structure. Between approximately 2:45 and 3 a.m., firefighters located the woman inside the residence.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
